I was really pleased to be asked by Chris to photograph Becca and Chris’ intimate wedding a few months before their wedding date. Both of us are members of 4N Barnsley which is a business networking group, where we both met. I was excited to get my first wedding booking through the group, after many portrait and commercial shoots with various clients.
I got to know Chris and Becca during the lead up with a skype call and meeting up at their wedding venue the Norfolk Arms Hotel, just outside of Sheffield. Chris and Becca are a really connected couple who are very much in love and this really came through during the day and in the photos. They really couldn’t keep their hands off each other it was so very sweet. You’ll see at the start of the photos, you’ll see that Chris wrote a romantic note on the bottom of one of her wedding shoes.
The Norfolk Arms sits amongst stunning scenery with Burbage Edge in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire five minutes away and distant views across the rolling hills above Sheffield. Their ceremony room is quaint and under-stated with a fireplace and a beautiful wooden floor.
I think this wedding was always going to be an emotional one for many of the people there. Becca sadly lost her dad a few weeks before the wedding which must have been really hard for her and yet on the day, she held it together. I was so impressed with her and everyone there.
Family and close friends were important in supporting them both to have a low-key and intimate wedding. They both had a day event and then both went to their local pub near their home in the evening.
I photographed their couple pics at Burbage Edge, a famous climbing location in the background which is just stunning. I love living in Derbyshire because of this scenery!
I really loved photographing this wedding, it had such an atmosphere and essence which encompassed those present but also those absent. I was honoured to be both their photographer and friend on the day and really looking forward to seeing them grow as a couple in the future.
