Fay and Matt’s wedding in Sardinia was really special for me.
Firstly because I was the first person they told, even before their families and was asked to be their witness and of course photographer. I was so honoured and excited! With just 5 people going, including the bride and groom it was to be my smallest wedding yet. And to do another destination wedding abroad was fabulous news for my portfolio and experience.
I was invited on Fay’s hen do in Brugge, which was so much fun and there I got to meet Matt’s sister their other witness. We hooked up and decided to room share and travel together so it made the wedding into a holiday for me too which was such a bonus.
The lead-up to the wedding was so exciting, I’d been on holiday to Sardinia many years before but the wedding was on the opposite side of the Island.
The weather on the day was mentally hot! I’m so used to being up a ladder doing the group photos and cold so this was a real treat, but to be honest we weren’t expecting it to be quite so hot. Apparently they had never had it so hot, there was a heat wave going on! We managed to keep it together, dabbing our foreheads etc!
You’ll see from the photos that the Tower where they got married was such an amazing setting, just a simple ancient tower jutting out from the beach, a truly magical place to be wed.
The day went by with lots of sun, plenty of champagne, with swimming in the afternoon to keep cool, just like any holiday, except this day felt so different! The holiday itself was fun, relaxing and had fabulous food and wine, I do love Italian! I’ll never forget this wedding ~ I loved it and was so grateful to Fay and Matt for inviting me into the fold of their special day.
Here’s what Fay says……
“I met Tanya a few years ago through networking and have got to know her well, both professionally and personally. She took the portrait pictures for my PR business website and has completed numerous photoshoots for my clients.
When I was planning my wedding to Matt, I knew I wanted Tanya to be our photographer. There was only one slight problem: we were getting married on the Italian island of Sardinia! Happily, Tanya agreed to take on this foreign assignment, in the dual role of official photographer and one of only two witnesses at the wedding ceremony.
Getting married in the Italian sunshine in July seemed like a blissful idea. The reality was a blistering heatwave and a temperature of 45 degrees on the day of our wedding! Tanya kept her cool and created a vast set of gorgeous images from throughout the day. The memories of our special day have been made even more special by the photos that Tanya produced. Our wedding album is truly amazing and we have our favourite images displayed on canvas prints at home.
Thank you Tanya for making our wedding truly magical.”
