It’s sometimes hard to come up with any hen event ideas. Whilst the wedding is the main event for all family and friends to get together to watch the bride and groom start their new life together, it’s nice to have a little fun before the big day. Whether you choose to have an engagement party, a hen and stag party, or even a joint event, break away from the pressure of organising the wedding, to have a day, night or weekend away enjoying yourself with the ones closest to you.
To get you prepared for the big day, here’s a range of ideas to help you relax and enjoy this whole experience:
A Weekend Retreat
A serene weekend away in the English countryside will sort those pre-wedding jitters. Invite your nearest friends and family to join you on a quick getaway. Add a ‘No Phone’ rule so everyone has to talk and enjoy themselves, leaving everyday life behind.
Pamper yourselves pretty with a spa retreat somewhere in the Yorkshire dales; beautifully scenery and calming massages and relaxing all day might be just what you need! Alternatively, if you’re the outdoorsy type, make your weekend retreat action packed and adventurous. Zip-Wires on Friday, Caving on Saturday and maybe a big hike on Sunday? Take a weekend out to feel some major adrenaline – helping you feel refreshed and excited for the upcoming weeks and last minute touches.
Everyone loves cocktails, and there’s no better way to drink them than to learn to make your own with friends! Find your local cocktail specialists such as The Alchemist or Botanist and find out if they have any cocktail classes that fit your schedule.
A Meal With the Girls/Guys
Contrary to popular belief, Hen and Stag parties don’t have to be big, loud and extravagant. What matters is enjoying time with your friends in a relaxed environment, creating good memories to last a lifetime. So if tucking in to a luxurious meal at your favourite restaurant, or trying out that restaurant that’s a bit too pricey is your ideal event, who’s to say you can’t? Have everyone dress nicely for an evening of conversation, laughter and great company.
Of course, sticking to tradition, if you’re the type who wants a big night out of drinking and dancing, Karaoke is a brilliant idea: It’s a fun environment to feel relaxed and create some fantastic and hilarious memories that some of your friends may not want to relive… Crack out your dancing shoes and clear those vocal cords.
Whatever you decide to do for your stag / hen do, just remember to enjoy yourself. The event isn’t something that’s supposed to add extra organising stress to the wedding experience; it’s there to give you a break and allow to have some quality you-time with your closest friends.
