Nina & Andy

Nina & Andy’s Wedding at Adlington Hall in Cheshire, near Macclesfield.

Wedding Overview

Nina and Andy’s wedding was filled with cute kids, style and a grand wedding venue. A previous wedding couple recommended me and so there was a connection we already had, which is always a nice way to get to know a new couple. I met Nina and Andy at their venue and we chatted and got to know each other as well as familiarising ourselves with the venue itself which is stunning.

This was the first time I was to photograph at this 11th century hunting lodge and country estate so I was mega excited about the photos I could capture of Nina & Andy.

Tanya’s Top Tip: It’s always a good idea to view the venue together, take time to go through the plan of your wedding so far and look at any alterations given timings of certain parts of the day. Your photographer will know how long things take, so do ask questions if you’re not sure.

Wedding Venue

Adlington Hall in Cheshire is one of the most stunning venues I’ve had the privilege to photograph a wedding. It has a few buildings which all have a very different feel to them. The grand hall where Nina and Andy had their wedding ceremony is just amazing with its wooden panelling and original paintings on each wall. It has that feeling that so much history has happened in its walls!

This venue has amazing gardens, with an archway avenue made out of trees, which is great for couple pics. There are also cobbled areas, which are great for photographing lots of folk for the group photos.

Tanya ‘s Top Tip: When choosing your wedding venue look to see if there are areas where you can get some nice couple photos and an area big enough to photograph your entire group of guests. It doesn’t necessarily have to be beautiful or grand estate gardens, If the venue isn’t that great for space I just shoot from a tall ladder or window down onto a car park but photo-shop out any hint of the car park if I can.

Nina’s Wedding Dress

I loved Nina’s dress for its style and simplicity. Nina is tiny and so a big over the top wedding dress would have swamped her. She chose a very elegant design, which had an open back which really helped to celebrate her petite frame.

Tanya’s Top Tips: It’s worth checking out factory outlets if you are not wanting to go overboard with how much you spend on your wedding dress. If you live in Manchester check out where Nina got hers at this factory outlet wedding dress shop in Stockport.

Wedding hair

Nina has an amazing mane of long hair, so I was excited to see how it would look on the wedding day. I wasn’t disappointed, it looked amazing and went so well to help show off her dress and help her to look stunning throughout the day.

Tanya’s Top Tips: When choosing who will do your wedding hair, whether it’s a cut or being put up I suggest you first speak with your own hairdresser. They do ften do a wedding service which will include and trial and they will come to your “getting ready” venue so you can remain calm and relaxed. Often your hairdresser will know your hair really well too so will be able to work with it to get the best results. You can ask for additional ladies to come and do your bridesmaids hair if you have a few to be done.

Wedding Make-up

Nina’s make-up looked beautiful, classic and elegant. It was slightly smokey but not too over the top and so it really helped to set off the whole elegant look she was going for.

Tanya’s Top Tips: I often see brides do their own make-up, if you are confident and have tested this a few times then it’s a great way of saving money. If on the other hand you’re a little nervous about it on the day it’s worth paying someone you trust who will do the job you want. You don’t necessarily need to go over the top because you’re paying for it, but it can help your face look great in the photographs. If you don’t know any make-up artists it’s worth asking at make-up counters such as Mac in department stores. Nina used her pal Frankie Noone.

Thoughts on Tanya

My photographer Tanya Lloyd did our wedding photography, she made us feel relaxed yet got exactly the photos & line ups I’d requested in a timely manner. We hardly knew she was there when the photos had been done, and some of the natural shots are our most favourite where she captured very special moments without any ‘posing’. I would recommend Tanya over & over for a very professional & friendly service.
