Sarah and Andrew’s wedding will be remembered for it’s sophistication, love and relaxed vibe.
I was lucky enough to have been introduced to Sarah & Andrew by a good family friend of hers who I go networking with in Yorkshire. Thanks to Mike, Sarah & Andrew trusted his recommendation and we met almost a year before they were to be married.
This couple are gorgeous and they are both going places! Both of them have done really well in their careers and so they know who they are and what they want. I knew we were going to have fun together on the big day.
I was really looking forward to photographing this wedding, photographing at a new venue is always a bit exciting to see how the venue works as a wedding venue and how the staff are with clients. Shottle Hall looked amazing, with a beautiful house set in stunning grounds on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Sarah and Andrew had full use of the hall during the day and had the marquee for their evening reception.
The week leading up to Saturday we had showers and really heavy rain, so I was hoping the weather would be kind to us! We were in luck, the weather was going to be dry! When I arrived at Sarah’s parent’s house there was an air of calm and ease, which is always a good sign of things to come through the day. Sarah got ready with her bridesmaids and friends and they all laughed as they talked of Marbella, where they had their hen do, which did sound like huge fun! I could see Sarah and her sister Caroline have a very strong bond, I got the impression they have spent many hours planning the wedding together.
It was great fun when I arrived at the church as I spent some time with Andrew, his best man Tom and his ushers, a great bunch of fella’s! The setting for their wedding ceremony was a traditional church in their village. St Anne’s was a beautiful large church which enabled me to get loads of classic wedding photos. The ceremony was really sweet as Sarah & Andrew by this point were quite nervous so there were lots of giggles between them, as they glanced at each other.
We were able to get some fab group shots outside the church before we drove to Shottle Hall, about an hour away. When we arrived the champagne was flowing and people were relaxing around the outside of the hall, the sun was shining and all was going swimmingly.
I really enjoyed gathering everyone together for the big group shot, I always really love this part of the day. I get up on my telescopic ladder and love engaging with everyone so it’s fun for everyone and doesn’t take too long out of their relaxing day.
Once all the group shots were complete we all made our way to their marquee which is a permanent building. This was set up beautifully and was so welcoming for everyone. We were so lucky with the weather which meant people could sit outside and the children could play and run about. The evening reception was very relaxed and people just chatted and enjoyed the ambience of the party. Their first dance was lovely and I was able to get loads of great photos of them both. I then set up my photo-booth and had many of the guests came to visit. Children often love them and once adults have had a few drinks, they get into it too. You’ll see from my favs pics one lady in yellow had a blast!
I really loved shooting this wedding. Sarah & Andrew’s sophisticated and chilled wedding at Shottle Hall was great fun, the crowd were such a laugh and the venue was top class!
